However, I think Mac vs. PC is not correct. It should be Mac vs. Windows, not Macs vs. PC’s. Are Apple and Mac supporters, then, saying Macs aren’t PC’s? What are they then? Servers? (And I’m talking about standard OSX here.) Are they work stations perhaps? Supercomputers? Nuclear weapon control centres?

Macs are personal computers. Therefore they are PC’s. They are PC’s made by Apple, with Mac OSX on them. I find it pretty funny that Apple doesn’t realize that they are, in fact, making PC’s. Or maybe they do, they are just trying to doop people, or fool themselves. Or they just don’t want to associate themselves with those dull grey boxes.

So, I don’t think it should be Mac vs. PC’s. It should be Mac vs. Windows.

Apparently, the shuttle will be unable to land until Thursday because of bad weather. Also, and an unidentified object was spotted.

It’s still not a good idea to eat spinach in or imported frorm the United States because some of it is contaminated with E. coli. About 114 people have been hospitalized, and one has died.

PCWorld has named myspace.com the worst website of all time. Uh…Everyone knows that already.

my article Why i Want to Switch to Linux is no longer number one on Google. They seem to have removed some sites from that search. Previously there were 36200000 results, now there are 35800000. i sure hope they haven’t delisted me because they thought i was tampering with stuff.

 I’m not sure if it still happens, but if you typed the word failure into Google the first result was George W. Bush.

I plan to write a series of articles about amusing search data from the search database that AOL *ACCIDENTALLY* released. They took it down, but you can still find it. I don’t see why they bothered to take it down. It’s still out on the net and will be for a very, very long time.  That’s the same thing with most pages. Once something goes out on the net, it stays out there for a long, long time, even if the original page is deleted.

The set of CSI: Miami became a real-life police investigation scene when a body washed up during filming.

An off-duty police officer working on the set was alerted to a body floating in Bicentennial Park.

An autopsy will be carried out but police are not treating the death as suspicious at this time.

Earlier in the week a mummified body was found inside a building in Los Angeles where spin-off drama CSI: New York was being filmed.

The cast and crew of CSI: Miami were filming offshore to get aerial shots from a helicopter when the body was spotted.

“Unfortunately, it’s not unusual during certain times of the year that people who have fallen in the bay, either homeless people or people who were asleep or in some cases boaters who had a mishap, fall into the bay and turn up days later,” said Detective
Delrish Moss.

People on mailing lists, when asking questions go “I know this sounds stupid” or “Sorry if this sounds stupid” or “Please forgive me for bbeing so stupid, but…” at one point, we are all computer newbies. We all ask questions about computers at one time or another. So all those people out there, and you probably know who you are, by doing that, you are, in fact, making yourselves look stupid. it has nothing to do with your computer knowledge.

2. Random people who add you to their msn comtact list, talk to you, and then ask you why you added them. i have had this happen to me twice. Fortunately, this has a sollution. Don’t add just anyone to your contact list.

3. People on mailing lists who post answers to questions after someone has already replied with an answer. To avoid doing this, read your emails from newest to oldest.

4. Web sites with music that cannot be shut off. yep, we’ve all been to those sites that insist on playing music that canot be muted.

There will probably be a part 2 to this post, because this is all I can think of right now.

Oh yeah, spam, viruses, and spyware are annoying too, but we all are fully aware of those.

 authorities rescued a 2-month-old baby, who was kidnapped by a woman on Monday in Bogotá, in Armenia on Thursday night, September 14.

The baby girl, Maribel Muñoz, was taken by a woman who told her parents, Zenaida Muñoz and Henry López Romero that she belonged to an NGO and could get medical care for for the girl inside Hotel Tequendama. The parents, who are displaced people, went to Caracol TV network in order to report the kidnapping.

Surveillance recordings from the hotel and the city’s bus terminal helped with the search. The woman, described as in her late twenties, of height 1.65 m, and having black hair and almond-shaped eyes, left the hotel with two men and went to the local bus
terminal. On Thursday, a taxi driver told the media that the day before, he had driven a woman with those features to Cedritos, a neighbourhood in northeast Bogotá.

Finally, on Thursday night, the kidnapper, Esmeralda Echeverri Castaño, was taken into custody in
Cali. She confessed that she had abandoned the baby in a hotel in Armenia, where Maribel was finally found and moved to a hospital. The doctors found the baby to be in good health.

Maribel’s parents, who live in a modest house in Usme, south Bogotá, recognized the baby on Friday early morning, thanks to a digital picture sent from Armenia to the police in Bogotá. The child was returned to her parents at 11:30 a.m. (16:30

) on Friday.

Missouri police were searching Saturday for a woman who walked into a Missouri home, told a young mother: “I’m here to take your child,” then slashed the mother’s throat and abducted her week-old infant.

Stephanie Ochsenbine, 21, was in stable condition following surgery, but there was no word Saturday evening on the whereabouts of the baby, Abby Woods.

Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke told the Associated Press that the FBI, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Missouri National Guard were all helping with the investigation.

The sheriff has also asked the public to report any woman who has talked about wanting a child or acted as if she were pregnant.

“It could be someone who had a child die recently or could not have children and has told people they were pregnant and needed to steal a child so their lie would not be found out,” Toelke said.

Franklin County Maj. Mike Copeland said the attack and abduction happened on Friday when Ochsenbine was home alone with her two children. The kidnapper apparently saw a sign celebrating Abby’s birth on the lawn of the home in the town of Lonedell, about
70 kilometres south of St. Louis.

Copeland said the woman knocked on the door, asked to use Ochsenbine’s telephone and, once she was inside, announced: “I’m here to take your child.” The kidnapper then pulled a knife and stabbed Ochsenbine several times.

Ochsenbine’s one-year-old son, Connor, was also in the house but was not harmed.

For those of you who don’t know what Linux is, it’s an operating system, like Mac OSX or Windows. However, there are a few differences.

Firstly, Linux is open source, which means it is freely available not only to use, but also to modify. The source code is available for anyone to examine or modify to their heart’s content. This also means that it is very easy to find support for Linux, because of it’s open source nature. Sure, Mac OSX is based on FreeBSD, which is open source, but the interface is closed source.

Another reason i want to switch is the fact that the Linux kernel is updated very often, about every month or two I believe.

yet another reason I want to switch to Linux is the fact that I really like text-based interfaces. (To most of you, this probably sounds wierd, doesn’t it?) linux has quite a number of guis, but it can be operated fully from the command line.

Also, Linux distrobutions, of which there are hundreds, often come with thousands of software packages. That’s quite a lot considering the apps you get with Windows or Mac OSX.

And one of the biggest reasons is that there’s no need to worry about installing and maintaining an antivirus program or antispyware program.

By the way, the distrobution i have chosen to get is Debian Gnu/Linux.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – Two 17-year-olds suspected of plotting a shooting spree at their high school were obsessed with the mass killings at Columbine High School and had homemade bombs and weapons at their homes, investigators said Friday.

The boys were arrested Thursday at East High School after a student went to an associate principal.

“If someone hadn’t come forward, we’d be talking about funerals instead of charges,” said Brown County District Attorney John Zakowski.

William Cornell and Shawn Sturtz were arrested for suspicion of conspiracy to commit first-degree intentional homicide and conspiracy to commit arson. They were expected in court later Friday for a bond hearing.

Police found nine rifles and shotguns, a handgun, about 20 “crudely made” explosive devices, camouflage clothing, gas masks, two-way radios and hundreds of rounds of ammunition at Cornell’s house, Police Capt. Lisa Sterr said. She said Cornell had made
several of the improvised explosive devices about two months ago.

At Sturtz’s home, police found knives and ammunition, Sterr said.

Police said they also found mannequin heads that appeared to have been used for target practice, and suicide notes.

No dangerous materials were found at the school, Sterr said.

The two teens had long been fascinated by the April 1999 Columbine massacre in Littleton, Colo., in which two students armed with guns, knives and bombs killed 12 classmates and a teacher before killing themselves, Sterr said.

In Montreal on Wednesday, an attacker killed a student at Dawson College and wounded 20 others before killing himself. Kimveer Gill, 25, dressed in a black trench coat like the Columbine shooters, posted online photos of himself with weapons and said he
liked to play an Internet role game about the Columbine killings.

Sturtz was described as being obsessed with pain and death, and both he and Cornell had been described as being depressed over the last couple of years and hated school, according to Sterr.

Sturtz had also just lost an Internet relationship with a girl, Sterr said.

“Sturtz was very upset about this and became extremely enraged and (Wednesday) talked of soon attacking the school like Columbine,” Sterr said.

Police Detective Tom Molitor said the two just needed a triggering event to pull off their plan.

“They were one bad day away from something happening. It could have happened yesterday,” he said.

Asked whether the two were co-operating with investigators, Molitor declined to comment other than to say they have gathered details from credible sources.

“I believe there probably were other people who knew about it. It was very good luck that this person came forward,” Molitor said.

The student who alerted school officials to the two teens was “shook up,” school Superintendent Dan Nerad said.

Mayor Jim Schmitt praised that student as a hero.
